Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy

LR Hotshots has a ZERO tolerance for “Alcohol and drugs” in the workplace. Individuals that choose to work under the influence of alcohol and drugs pose a considerable risk to the safety to themselves, the public and their work colleagues.

Anyone found to be in possession or consuming alcohol, illegal drugs or working under the influence of alcohol and other drugs will be stood down immediately.

LR Hotshots will suspend any employee or sub-contractor under suspicion of or “for cause” of being under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs. This suspension will be without pay until a medical certificate from LR Hotshots NATA approved Laboratory has returned a negative result for alcohol or illicit drugs. If the driver chooses not to produce a sample, it will be recorded as a non-negative test, and disciplinary action will follow.

All drivers before commencing work or commencing a hotshot shall undertake an Alcohol test in the yard and must return a zero blood alcohol concentration (BAC) reading. LR Hotshots may also conduct random drug testing in line with Work health and safety laws and Industry
standards.

Employees or sub-contractors shall not use, possess, distribute or sell alcoholic beverages, illicit or non-prescribed drugs or misuse legitimate prescription drugs while on duty at work. An employee or sub-contractor must notify the company if they are taking any prescription medication.

An employee or Sub-contractor found operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any illicit drug is deemed severe misconduct and will be terminated immediately without notice.

The company will make every endeavour to provide assistance and rehabilitation in the form of reference to medical help or counselling if a company employee or sub- contractor recognises, there is a problem with alcohol or drugs.

LR Hotshots reserve the right to investigate and discipline any employee/contractor that return a non-negative result for drugs or alcohol including, but not limited to immediate termination of employment.
